I can understand that it would give you more time to save up money for the 360, and then later get the HD-DVD addon. But with the HD-DVD addon, it will be about the same price as the $599 PS3. All I'm saying is that it's much more risky with the HD-DVD addon than getting the $599 PS3, unless you know for sure that the 360 will support HDMI ouput. If it does, it's just down to your personal choice.
I believe he's referring to the HD-DVD addon for the 360 and how it may be useless in several years if ICT is implemented and if the Xbox 360 does not have the capability in the future for an HDMI output. So if you're buying it for movies (there would be no other reason to buy the HD-DVD addon) it may be risky if they don't have an HDMI addon because it could be useless in a few years.
But this is a pretty fair article, it's obviously not trying to pick sides. There were a fe...
This is to be taken with a huge bag of salt. It would be like putting a poll on Major Nelson's or the TeamXbox page and asking if DVD-9 is sufficient for next-gen games. It may be, I don't think so, but you'll get different answers depending on who your audience is.
Looks pretty good. I'm looking forward to learning more about the story and seeing more screenshots and some videos.
Thanks for the props. I try to look at things as unbiased as I can, but I will admit that I lean more towards the Sony side (and obviously you lean more towards MS due to your name :)). But yeah I think all consoles will take a while to fully tap the power. That is why I get frustrated when people say that Xbox 360 games that are finished (and some are in the second generation) are looking better than PS3 games that are 6+ months away from release. It defies the laws of logic to think tha...
I'm debating whether to get one of these for my wife and I, or a PSP. The connectivity, games, and all the different features of the PSP is calling to me, but at the same time the DS Lite is so freakin sexy and it has some nice games so I don't know.. :)
Let the flaming begin........... NOW!
You're saying that Sony doesn't care about games when they put out thousands for the PS2 and PS1? And good games, not just quantity. You're using a straw man argument when you say they don't care about games, yes they've said it's a computer and that it plays Blu Ray movies but of course they care about games. People were saying the same thing when the PS2 came out, this is just a repeat. The Playstation franchise has made a name for itself by the games, they're not suddenly going to quit...
Probably less than 60% considering it will take years for devs to get everything out of the each of the consoles. This game does look sweet though. Dead Rising looks bleh to me. Maybe it's the low res screenshots I've seen but it's not doing anything for me. Seems like a video game version of the old Dawn of the Dead.
True. That and that most video games are released before the consoles are actually released. It's a chance for people to start buying the media so they have something to enjoy when they get home and plug the thing in. The downside is that there won't be anything good for a while..
It's real-time in that the realtime cinematic of Halo 3 at E3 was real-time. I still don't like FF, but I know tons of gamers that would be a lot happier about the PS3 price if this game were to be announced. Maybe this is an announcement that Sony is making Square Enix wait for TGS for... Doesn't matter to me, there will still be tons of games for the PS3 that I can't wait to play.
True, it's that way for everything though. This player looks nicer than Sony's player, IMO. Looking forward to seeing both in person though.
I'm still on my first PS2 that I've had since launch. The thing has moved with me four times, and still works. I am looking forward to boxing it up though at the end of this year, as I'm just getting tired of looking at the same electronical equipment for six years. :)
The PS2 has outsold the Xbox 360 6 months out of 7. I don't see how that's good for MS, and I'm not trying to make a joke out of it.
He could have mentioned the formats that Sony was a part of that did have success: CD's, DVD's, DV tapes, mini-DV tapes, and SACD's. You can reference Answers.com under Sony Corporation to see what formats they partnered in. You win some, you lose some. He could have also mentioned how MS gives consumers more choice by using a last generation media format (DVD-9), 20 GB (before formatting) harddrive that costs $100, wireless internet adapter for $100, $50 wireless controllers, $11.99 recha...
Haha, I'm glad they mentioned that tribal designs are not allowed. And yes, they are reallly cliche! :)
As mentioned in my previous post, you are repeating a rumor about bad CPU yields, it was delayed ONE TIME from Spring 2006 to November 17, 2006; and the hardware will not be old in November. The RSX is still apparently blowing away a 7900 GTX in SLI, the cell is running rings around any processor that they've tested it against. The Mt. St. Helens realtime flyover at 30 fps being rendered in real-time was especially impressive, considering a top of the line Mac G5 was chugging at 4-5 fps. T...
$50/per year x 5 years (average life of a console) = $250.00. That is $250.00 that PC gamers and PS3 gamers will not have to spend to play online. That is also $250 in addition to the monthly charge that you already have to pay for your cable modem/dsl/T1 etc. Then, if you want to use wireless internet you have to buy a $100 wireless adapter.
Sounds like a good deal to me....
You don't repeat facts, you repeat rumors from pro-MS blogs with no proof, and then say that if anyone has proof, that they have to present it and prove you wrong. Or you pounce on each and every story on this site, that has no credibility, and in the absence of proof, start saying how they're right and the "delaystation" is broken, low CPU yields, the RSX I2 TEH SUXORZ!, etc.
I've already told you that the Toy Story thing was NOT Sony, that was a MS exec who said ...
to 7.1- They're the same price, man. Look it up. A lot of them are actually cheaper at $24.99: http://www.bestbuy.com/site...
To 6.7- The menus on the Blu Ray discs will be customizable as well. If you google "Blu Ray" you should be able to find the info. The difference between Blu Ray on PS3 and HD-DVD on 360, will be that the Blu Ray will be used for bo...
